Privacy Policy

Places I've Visited is a private travel map. The short version: there's no account, no tracking and no ads. Your places stay on your device and in your own iCloud.
What stays with you
- Your places, countries, regions, notes, ratings, photos, flights, trips and settings are stored on your device.
- If you use iCloud, they sync through your own private iCloud account. We can't see that data.
- Photos you add are copied into the app with their location and camera metadata removed. The app never changes your Photo Library.
- When you fill your map from Photos, your photo library is scanned on the device. Nothing is uploaded.
- When you import a Google Timeline or GPX file, it is read on the device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Location is used on the device to drop a pin where you are and, only if you turn it on, to offer a passport stamp when you arrive in a new country. No location history is kept or sent anywhere.
What leaves your device
- Purchases. If you buy Plus, Apple processes the payment. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app ID, not your name or email. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- App Store ad attribution. If you installed the app from an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple's AdServices framework may tell us which campaign it was. This uses no advertising identifier and no cross-app tracking.
- Anonymous usage statistics. To learn which features help people (for example, how often a card is shared or how many countries a first session ends with), the app sends anonymous counts to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service in the EU. They contain coarse values only, such as the type of card or a range like "20–49 countries", and never your places, countries, coordinates, notes, photos or anything that identifies you. The identifier is a salted hash created on your device, and TelemetryDeck doesn't store IP addresses. You can switch this off at any time in You › Privacy › Share anonymous usage stats. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.
- Things you share. Share cards, compare links, guess links and exports are only created when you tap Share or Export, and go wherever you send them. Compare and guess links carry the list of countries in the link itself; our website decodes it in your browser and doesn't store it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no ads, no crash-reporting SDKs, no data brokers.
- We don't sell or share your data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Your choices
- Delete any place or everything at once in the app (You › Delete all data). Data in your iCloud is removed with it.
- Export your data at any time (You › Export).
- Location, Photos and notifications are optional and can be changed in Settings.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
